Who Am I?



I can imagine your curiosity. This is such a great site with so many interesting articles and updates, you obviously can't wait to find out who is behind all this ;-)



A Little Background

Well, I am one of those lucky girls who has had no problem gaining weight. I didn't even have to do so much as eat. All I had to do was look at other people eat ;-)

As a kid, I was always the butt of fat jokes. No matter how hard I tried, I never seemed to lose an ounce. By the time I was 15, I had gotten so heavy (172 pounds/78 Kgs) that I didn't even realize how bad it looked till I saw a picture of mine. I was standing next to my aunt in the pic and looked older and heavier than her. (She was in her 40s… just FYI). That's when it hit me and I decided I better do something before it was too late!

I joined a local gym (even though, technically, I was underage… remember I am still 15) and completely stayed off all fatty stuff. I nearly starved myself and ate so little that I ended up shrinking my stomach.

Oh ya, I did lose weight (49 pounds/22 Kgs in a year!) but developed this stomach ache (that I would get anytime I ate after a long gap) that lasted for 10 years to follow. Also, everyone felt I looked like I had just gotten out of a serious illness.

Along with weight loss, I had lost all the energy and strength and it showed. Then I tried to start eating better and things started looking nice for a few years. By, the time I was 20, I looked perfect!!



Round Two

That's where the problem started again. I was so used to receiving compliments and never hearing a fat joke that I got complacent. I started taking things easy, didn't watch my diet, no regular exercise and started putting on weight again.

Things got even worse when I got married - getting used to the new life, taking responsibility of the house and having a full time job didn't leave me with anytime for myself. This turned into a vicious cycle of weight gain and me not caring about my looks. I kept postponing buying new clothes since nothing would fit me and I didn't really care for being fashionable. And my confidence dropped to an all-time low.

But, somewhere deep down, I knew I could do it. I had done it once, I could do it again. But, this time I only wanted to do it in a healthier, better informed manner. I wasn't 15 anymore ;-)

With the job and the house, I didn't think I could manage going to a gym regularly. So I started exercising at home and started eating right. No fatty stuff but no starving either. I charted out a game plan for exercise and diet that I would follow and update as per my progress.

The results started showing and I started showing off ;-) You know how it is when you can finally fit into that dream dress of yours!! And that kept me motivated. This time I went from size 12 to size 4 in 10 months and remained healthy throughout. Now, it's all about watching my weight and not letting it slip again!!



Back to the Present

In the process, I learned so much about the right way to lose weight and how to enjoy the whole journey without losing focus on fashion that I couldn't resist putting it all down on paper. Slowly I built up a good inventory and it suddenly struck me that it would be so great if I could share it with others like me. What better way to do it than put it on the web!

Everything I've written on this site is based on my own experience and my intent has been to share the secrets that have worked for me along the way. It sure has been a very fulfilling experience for me and I truly hope the ideas and thoughts expressed in my articles make a difference to your lives.



Here's the deal: Like I've already mentioned, everything written on this site is based on my personal experience - stuff that really worked for me. But, before you start experimenting with fitness or fashion, I suggest you consult your physician / stylist / designer / friend / whoever.

But, don't forget to give me credit when you see fantastic results! Those guys just gave you the nod; it's my site that has made you Fit n Chic ;-)
