Why "See Me Lose It"?
Dual-purpose of starting this category:
1. I will be accountable to my readers, which will keep me motivated and help me stay on track.
2. I hope to provide inspiration to anyone else interested in losing (a ton of) weight. Seeing my progress should help you remain focused on your goal.

The Game Plan
I am planning to give myself 6 months to lose most of the 70 odd pounds I have gained, if not all the weight. I think this is a reasonable long term goal. Any time frame longer than that and I will lose interest. In this period I will try a variety of diet and exercise combinations based on the progress I make. Each time I hit a plateau, I will bring some modifications to my routine.
I don’t intend joining any gym at this point in time. If I do join a gym or take up some classes as we move along, I will keep you posted. However, I will be working out 6 days a week. I will try to stick to a healthy diet with an occasional indulgence (It helps me do better in my weight loss journey)
I want to kick start the weight loss with a workout-video. After considerable research on the internet, I chose Turbo Jam Beachbody 5 Rockin' Workouts
and Turbo Jam Punch Kick & Jam
workout videos by Chalene Johnson. They are a mix of dance and martial arts. I believe that a new workout regime should begin with a bang and this being fast paced with good music seems like a lot of fun, which is very important for sustained interest.
(I will post a detailed review after a month of trying it out.)
The one thing I need to constantly remind myself of is that I shouldn’t try too many things at once. It may give quicker results initially but I wouldn’t have any tricks up my sleeve when I hit the inevitable plateau. So, no matter how tempting it may seem, only one small change at a time will help sustain weight loss for 6 months.
What’s in it For You?
I would like to see this become a forum for people to share their weight-loss experience, what has worked, what hasn’t, give tips, support one another and even log their weekly progress.
The fact that we don’t see each other face-to-face should prompt us to be more candid about ourselves. This can even turn into a virtual competition among people with similar weight loss targets providing the much needed push to keep going.
If you are already on a weight-loss journey and have documented similar stuff you would like to share, please leave a link for everyone’s benefit.
If you have any suggestions, do let me know.
At the end of 6 months, I will do a feature on those of you with significant results and post it on the website - so don’t forget to take your "before" pictures!!
The Challenge
If you are thinking losing weight after pregnancy is a lot easier than losing weight in general, make no mistake. I too have heard stuff like breastfeeding gives you a flat tummy in no time and that you can eat all you want and still lose weight. I am sure there are people who swear by it. Believe me, it just remains a myth as far as I am concerned. The weight is not gonna come off easily for me. It never does! If anything, I have gained weight after delivery - beat that!!
I firmly believe that the challenge is half the fun in losing weight. Sure, I envy women who can fit into their pre-pregnancy clothes in 4 weeks after delivery while I can barely squeeze myself into maternity clothes. But, if I happen to be that woman who lost weight effortlessly, I would have no incentive to exercise, watch what I eat and lead a healthy life while building strong lean muscles. The way I look at it - now I have a purpose, a weight loss goal that motivates me to lead a healthy life by eating right and exercising - and my body is gonna thank me for this in the long run.
So, all you people cursing your genes for the excess weight you carry around - look at the brighter side and embark on your weight loss journey cheerfully.
I am here to keep you company.
