I promised to come back with reviews on epilators. Now that you know why you should choose epilators over other hair removal techniques and how the pain can be significantly reduced,it’s time you decide on which one you want to buy. Well, I have been an ardent fan of the Braun Silk epil series and this article has a review of the epilators I have used. It will not only give you an idea of how good the Braun epilators are but also help you understand the key features you need to consider while buying an epilator.
I got my first epilator (obviously Braun) around 14 years back. It was Braun Silk epil Comfort. It came with 2 speed settings and a cute pouch with adapter and cleaning brush. Ya, it sounds really basic now but remember that was 14 years ago. But it was so good that it lasted me a good 9 years with absolutely no trouble whatsoever. After that I slowly started seeing deterioration in performance. It became slow and it would leave some hair behind each time. I knew it was time for a change.
| | I then bought my second epilator – Braun Silk-épil EverSoft Body System model 3370. This came with a shaver head and special attachments for first timers to reduce the pain. But, I never once used those attachments coz I didn’t feel the pain anymore. The shaver head on the other hand was really handy and I just loved it. No more worries about shaving creams and the mess the traditional razors cause. All I needed was to pat talcum powder over the area I was looking to shave and go over that area with Braun. It was effortless and I smelled fresh! I applied moisturizing cream and after a while could use deodorants without any issues. I have heard women complain of the stinging feeling when they use deodorants after shaving. I fell in love with this new Braun. |
But, now that I have used it for 5 years, I think it’s time to buy a new one. Not that this is giving me any trouble – it’s just that there are lots of newer models in the markets which are not only advanced in terms of performance but also have a lot of features and attachments which would be extremely useful.
The one I am eyeing now is the Braun Silk Epil Xpressive 7681 epilator. It’s one of the latest in the series and a little on the expensive side but my logic is that if I am going to stick with my purchase for years to come, I may as well go for the best in the market right now so there is still time for it to get outdated.
The features:
– Precision head: for facial hair
– Shaving head: for bikini and underarms (if you find the regular head too painful for the underarms!)
– Wipes: to clean the area you are going to use the epilator on
– Cordless: It can be used without the cord.
– Beginner cap: Useful, if this is your 1st epilator
– Built-in light: Trust me, at times you can miss some hair even in a well lit room. This feature would throw light on the area you are using your epilator on and that way you will never miss any hair.
The features I like best are the precision head, built-in light and portability coz it’s cordless. Isn’t it awesome?
Unfortunately, I haven’t found it in the US. It’s available in UK but electronics aren’t shipped from UK to US! If you are in the UK, it’s available for a great price on Amazon.co.uk.
For the kind of features it offers, the price is unbeatable. So if you are looking for an epilator that has it all and worth the cost, 7681 is your answer. If it’s available in your city/ country, just don’t hesitate to buy it. This could easily best your best investment for hair removal!!
The one main issue most people seem to face with using epilators is the enormous noise it seems to create. But come on, plug your ipod in your ears and then get down to using the epilator. You will be done in no time and the noise will be almost inaudible!
